Zurich

The city of Zurich is a global center of banking and finance and is located at the northern end of Lake Zurich in the north of Switzerland. The picturesque streets of the old town on both sides of the Limmat are evidence of pre-medieval city history. Waterfront promenades like the Limmatquai follow the river to the town hall from the 17th century.The Augustinergasse is a traditional alley in the old town of Zurich with brightly painted bay windows on former merchant houses. Along Bahnhofsstrasse, the city's first shopping address, you will find exclusive fashion boutiques and banks. Niederdorf is a popular area for night outings. The 9th century Fraumünster houses Marc Chagall's stained-glass windows from the 1970s, while the Grossmünster's tower offers views of the city, the lake and the Alps. The Landesmuseum in Zurich traces the Swiss culture for thousands of years. The Cabaret Voltaire is a café with bar, was the birthplace of the Dada art movement in 1916 and is still operated today. Works by modern artists such as Alberto Giacometti are shown in the Kunsthaus.
