The cityscape is characterized by the architecture of the 19th century, as well as by wide boulevards and the Seine. In addition to landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral from the 12th century. Paris is also known for its café culture and the fashion boutiques of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore.The famous Louvre Museum exhibits da Vinci's "Mona Lisa". The Musée d'Orsay houses works by Impressionists such as Monet, Degas and Renoir. On the right bank of the Seine, the Sacré-Coeur Basilica is perched in the district of Montmarte. From the hill of the same name, the view goes far beyond the city. In the Marais, restored 17th-century town houses alternate with nightclubs. On the left bank of the Seine are the Quartier Latin with the Sorbonne and the famous artists' quarter Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The city's sidewalk cafes are often visited for small meals and people watching. Other facets of the famous French culinary heritage can be found in the upscale restaurants, bistros, markets and pâtisseries.
