The French Church and the nearby medieval Zytglogge Clock Tower date back to the 13th century. The gothic Berner Münster has stained glass paintings from the 15th century and offers from its high church tower a view over the red tiled roofs of the old town. On the other side of the Kirchenfeld Bridge - one of 18 bridges over the Aare - lies the Bernisches Historisches Museum, which also houses an Einstein Museum dedicated to the famous physicist and former citizen of the city. Works by the artist Paul Klee from the 20th century are the focus of Paul Klee's work. The modern museum building with a wave-shaped roof was designed by Renzo Piano.
